Synagogues in Kerala
The synagogues in Kerala - Chennamangalam, Mala, and Ernakulum - have standardized traditional architectural patterns – a central bimah of brass or silver metal on a concrete or stone base, an ark on the western wall and a balcony, usually above the eastern entry to the sanctuary that is used by the reader on certain holidays. The women's gallery lies behind the balcony, with a stairway leading up to it, usually from outside the building.

Day 01 : Calicut
kerala heritage tourArrival at Calicut. Transfer to Kappad Beach Resort. This beach has got its name engraved in Indian history as Vasco Da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, had put his first steps on Indian soil at this place. Spend overnight at Kappad Beach Resort.

Day 02 : Calicut
Beypore, home to Asia's biggest wood market and traditional wooden ship making industry. The craftsmen have been making these Marakalam's in Beypore since the 18th Century. Overnight stay at Kappad Beach Resort.

Day 03 : Calicut/Mahe
Drive to Mahe. On arrival transfer to Ayesha Manzil, a heritage bungalow located on the shores of Arabian Sea. In the afternoon visit to the fort and mosque. Overnight stay at the Bungalow.

Day 04 : Mahe
Visit the Kerala Traditional Dance centre to witness 'Thayum' and 'Kalari Pati'. Mahe is the traditional and cultural city of Kerala. Overnight stay at the bungalow.

Day 05 : Mahe/Wyannad
Drive to Wyannad. Check into Vythiri Resort surrounded by lush green rainforests. This eco-friendly resort provides the visitors with ample opportunities for bird watching, trekking and an elephant ride at the nearby Muthanga Sanctuary. Overnight stay at Vythiri Resort.

Day 06 : Wayannad
Visit the nearby tribal village and tribal museum. After lunch take a 4 km trek to an awe-inspiring ancient cave, providing an insight to the rich Indian civilization. Overnight stay at Vythiri Resort.

Day 07 : Cheruthuruthy
Drive to Cheruthuruthy to visit the school of traditional art and dance - Natya Kala Mandalam. Visit local potters and weavers that are world famous for their dexterity. Stay overnight at the Heritage River Retreat Hotel.

Day 08 : Cochin
Morning drive to Cochin. Afternoon sightseeing at Fort Cochin - an amalgamation of Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese cultures. A small population of Jews still resides here. Visit Mattancherry Palace, Chinese Fishing Nets, and Saint Francis Church. You must see the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth. Walk through the busy spice markets in the Jew Town area. In the evening watch Kathakali dance performance. Overnight stay at Fort Heritage Hotel.

Day 09 : Cochin/Allepey
Drive to Alleppey and enjoy a memorable trip on the fantastic houseboats. Travel through the coconut fringed canals. Here you are a welcome observer of traditional activities of the local people. Your crew will show you various tourist spots along the way and provide you delicious meals on board. Overnight stay on the houseboat.

Day 10 : Alleppey/Kovalam
Arrive at Thottapally. Disembark from houseboat after breakfast. Drive to Kovalam. Visit enroute Haripad Subramanian Snake Temples, which house 500 snake statues. Overnight stay at a Beach Resort.

Day 11 : Kovalam
Relax at Kovalam during the day. Option of having a body-soothing, relaxing Ayurvedic massage. Overnight stay at the Beach Resort.

Day 12 : Kovalam/Trivandrum
Departure from the Trivandrum airport for your onward journey or way back home.
