Visiting the Lake Palace in Kerala's lake centered wildlife sanctuary of Thekkady, also referred to as the Periyar sanctuary is an experience to remember. When a Maharaja ruled this land, he had a dam thrown across the Periyar River. The backed up waters of the dam flooded a valley, partially submerging trees, leaving their bare trunk standing over their reflections like a Daliesque waterscape. Visitors put-put around this surreal lake in motor-launches, delight in spotting wildlife including herds of foraging wild elephant.

Periyar is, clearly, the safest elephant sanctuary in India, possibly in the world. Elephants have never been known to attack a tourist launch. This, in spite of the fact that elephants are at home in the water. Elephant, Wild Pig, Sambar and Guar are the four most popular animals with Thekkady's visitors. The smaller ones, however, are as interesting.

Day 1: Arrive Delhi
elephant safari tourOn arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred to hotel where we will be holding the rooms on ready occupancy basis. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Delhi
In the morning take a city tour covering Laxmi Narayan Temple - The Place of Gods, India Gate - The memorial of martyrs, Parliament House - The Government headquarters. In the afternoon take a city tour of Old Delhi covering Jama Masjid - The largest mosque in Asia, Red Fort - The red stone magic, Gandhi memorial - The memoir of father of the nation. Also enjoy the sound & light show in the evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Delhi - Corbett
Morning drive to Jim Corbett national Park. On arrival check into hotel. Afternoon have lunch and proceed for a jungle ride on Jeep. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Corbett - Lohachor
06.30 hrs: Half hour drive towards north to Durga Devi. With packed lunch ride on the Indian Elephant and commence a whole day Safari (15 kms). Packed lunch enroute. In the evening arrive Lohachor for Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Lohachor - Ratwadhap
06.30 hrs: Have breakfast then proceed on your sojourn with packed lunch. Whole day Indian Elephant Safari. Arrive Ratwadhap for hot dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Ratwadhap - Haldupura
06.30 hrs: After breakfast proceed for the whole day Indian Elephant safari with packed lunch. Arrive Haldupura for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Haldupura - Corbett
Early morning take a Jeep ride or Indian Elephant ride, return back to the place for Breakfast. After a couple of hours to relax, return back to Corbett. Dinner and Overnight at Corbett.

Day 8: Corbett - Delhi
Early morning drive back to Delhi, On arrival check in into hotel. Rest of the time free for last minute shopping. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Departure Delhi
Transfer to Airport to catch International flight.
